Meet our plenary speaker, associate professor at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Rijeka, Gabriela Ambrožić! Professor Ambrožić graduated (1997) and received her doctorate (2002) from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana. After graduation, she was employed for many years at the Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana, where she actively participated in several domestic and international competitive projects. Professor also participated in projects with the economy (Lek Biopharmaceuticals and Akripol, d.o.o.) which resulted in two patents. As a postdoctoral student, she spent a year at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Trieste, Italy. After returning to the Republic of Croatia, HRZZ led the project Preparation of porous thin-layer materials for water purification using the Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technique. She is employed as an associate professor at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Rijeka, where she heads the Laboratory for the Synthesis of Functional Materials. She is the teacher of three courses at the Undergraduate Studies in Physics. She won two awards for the best scientific papers of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Rijeka. The main field of scientific work of Mrs. Ambrožić is the development of functional hybrid materials using atomic layer deposition (ALD) or reactions in the liquid phase.
